Al Boraq High-Speed Rail Stations

محطات البراق للقطار فائق السرعة

Africa's first high-speed railway and its architecture

Launched in 2018, Al Boraq is Africa's first high-speed rail service, connecting Tangier to Casablanca at 320 km/h. The stations along the route — particularly the Tangier and Kenitra terminals — represent a new genre of Moroccan public architecture: large-scale, contemporary, and designed to express national modernity while incorporating traditional craft elements. The Kenitra station features a dramatic cantilevered roof and geometric screen facades. The extension to Marrakech is planned for completion before the 2030 World Cup. The name "Al Boraq" refers to the mythical creature that carried the Prophet Muhammad on his night journey.
